Background and Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the role of motor literacy on the use of virtual space in the sports leisure time of female high school students in Mashhad. The current research is of an applied type, and in terms of the method of processing and testing the hypotheses, it is descriptive and correlational.
Methods: The statistical population of the research was all female high school students in Mashhad (78,554 people). According to the characteristics of the statistical population, a two-stage cluster sampling method was considered. The statistical sample size was considered according to Morgan's formula 384. The research tools were Philosophical Media Literacy Questionnaire (2013), Kulthumzadeh Sports Leisure Time (2013) and Canadian Movement Literacy by Longmire et al. (2006). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis statistical methods were used to analyze the data and structural equation method was used to test the hypotheses. Data analysis was done using SPSS 25 and Lisrel statistical software.
Findings: The results showed; Movement literacy is effective in the free time of high school female students. Movement literacy as a mediating variable between the effect of how to use virtual space and sports leisure time, and the level of movement literacy of middle school female students is higher than expected. Also, the findings showed that the amount of use of virtual space in the spare time of middle school female students is higher than expected.
Conclusion: According to the findings of the present study, the correct use of virtual space in interaction with movement literacy is recommended to direct the leisure time of female students.
